A Step Ahead Mentors was founded on a simple observation: the students best placed to teach are those who have just walked the path themselves. A student at Oxford or Cambridge doesn't just know the syllabus — they know what it takes to get there.
We built ASAM to make that knowledge accessible. Not through a directory or a marketplace, but through a genuinely curated service that takes the time to understand each family's needs and find exactly the right fit.

The Founder
Harry read History at Worcester College, University of Oxford, before going on to study at SOAS, University of London and Tsinghua University in Beijing — giving him a genuinely international academic perspective that informs everything ASAM does.
He founded A Step Ahead Mentors during Covid, having watched exceptional students struggle to maintain momentum as schools — even the finest — found themselves ill-equipped for the demands of remote learning. What started as a response to an immediate problem quickly revealed a deeper truth: that even the best institutions can rarely give individual students the focused, expert attention that unlocks their full potential.
Over the years that followed, Harry built a reputation for placing ambitious students into some of the world's most competitive academic institutions — working with families across China, the United States and Europe, including a number of prominent family offices, to secure places at Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, HKU, Bocconi, Stanford, Yale and beyond.
He has been an active tutor himself for over seven years and continues to teach — not as a formality, but because staying close to the curriculum, to students, and to the latest in teaching method and technology is what keeps ASAM's standards genuinely high.
